In this installment of teaching myself how to sew, I made a lined tote bag from fabric scraps I had on hand.
I had a bunch of long strips of fabric leftover from when I made Elise's patchwork puppy.
I'm not posting a tutorial for this because it's unlikely someone would have the same size scraps. But the general idea was that I sewed all of the pieces together, end to end, in one giant strip. Then I coiled the whole thing around like a spring and sewed the layers together.
I was pretty proud of myself, sewing a lining, even adding a patch pocket to the inside. I was all done and admiring my work, then I realized there was a bobbin between the lining and the outer layer. I changed the bobbin somewhere along the line and the empty one must have snuck inside. I removed it and sewed it back together, but it's a good thing I'm not a surgeon.
