Bedroom progress: Painting an accent wall

First up in the bedroom refresh: painting! Our bedroom is pretty much just a 12x12 box, so I wanted to paint one wall to make up for the lack of architectural interest.

This room gets limited natural light from north and east facing windows. The neighbor's house and a large tree also do their part to block a lot of the light. There's no real sense in fighting the darkness with a brighter wall color. It doesn't work and often makes a bright color look cold or dingy. So I went dark, without reservation!

It took me about 90 minutes for the first coat, but the coverage was so good, it didn't need a second. I did some touch ups the next day, but I was being super nit-picky.

The color (Olympic's Oswego Tea) looks a bit darker on the wall than on the paint chip, but that's OK. It might just be because of the light in the room. I used Olympic One paint + primer for the first time, and it did pretty well considering I only gave it one coat.

My plan is to turn this into a gallery wall with lots of framed photos, so in reality, you probably won't see most of this wall. But I think the color will blend nicely with black frames.

Stay tuned! More to come soon! But for now, I'll give you a sneak peek of the new bedding.
