Hooked on hooks

We don't have a coat closet or a hall closet, so we have been using a hand-me-down coat tree in a corner of our dining room to hang jackets, coats and purses. It wasn't fancy, but it did the job. That is until a couple of months ago, when Elise took up the practice of pushing furniture around like a worker ant. Before disaster came to pass, I thought I'd better remove the coat tree and replace it with some simple wall hooks.

I got these pretty cast iron hooks and knobs 50 percent off at Hobby Lobby and mounted them to a piece of painted wood. (I did get some help from my dad mounting it to the wall. I didn't want it to come crashing down with heavy use.)

I wasn't really sure what color would work best. I painted it brown. Then I painted it blue. Then I painted it with a thin coat of white. I'm not completely happy with the white because the blue is showing through, making it a very cold white. (Hindsight says I should have stuck with the brown.) But now that the hooks are functional, I'm feeling a bit too lazy to remove the hooks and repaint. Maybe later.
