Hello Cupcake!

With Elise's birthday coming up, I've got cupcakes on the brain. I found these packs of polymer clay in my stash. I'm guessing they were seven or eight or nine years old!

But apparently when polymer clay is seven or eight or nine years old, this is what happens.

But I added a couple of drops of olive oil and kneaded it like crazy and it pretty much went back to normal. So I made the base of the cupcake.

And I made the top using a pinch pot technique.

Then for the sprinkles, I used another material in my stash -- seed beads.

After I baked it, the color of the clay changed a bit and took on a mottled appearance.

After the pieces were cool, I glued the two pieces together with some craft glue.

I only used about half a pack of clay for each piece of the cupcake, but I think I'm going to throw the rest of it away. Too crumbly and hard to work with and the mottled appearance is probably due to it's age as well.
